Adjuno charity football match raises money for the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice
April 4, 2017
In March Adjuno held its first official company football match. It started as an idea for a friendly ‘kick-about’ amongst colleagues, which soon turned into an opportunity to raise some cash for a charity in the local vicinity to our UK head office. This helped ensure commitment to the original cause (getting fit and having fun at the same time) and to drum up some supporters and healthy competition with some creative money making ideas.
Therefore, on 16th March two Adjuno teams went head to head in a charity 5 a-side football match at the Power League in Slough. Players stumped up cash to give to the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice in order to play and all colleagues were offered the opportunity to take part in a sweepstake on who would be the first goal scorer on the night.
Teams were decided by picking names out of a hat. Then team names were chosen and bets were placed before “Deportivo Lack of Talent” and “Ball of Duty” battled it out on pitch. It was a tense and frantic first few minutes as the race to be first goal scorer ensued. After a few near misses (and a few far-misses) the first goal was scored – it wasn’t quite the spectacular start we’d built ourselves up for, as the ball trickled over the goal line, as a result of a deflection from the goalkeeper – but a goal is a goal!
The team to emerge victorious and ironically named “Deportivo Lack of Talent” won with a convincing lead in the end – but who’s really counting, it’s the taking part that counts right?
Overall, the evening raised £100 for the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice, which is good going for 60 minutes of play and entertainment of an evening.
A BIG thank you to all that took part and we hope to hold similar events to support this charity throughout the year. If you would like to learn more about how you can support this amazing charity please visit their website here.
